I use the mixings in a few different file backed arrays.
However, the lack of slots make it difficult for me to use slots.
I mostly use slots to ensure that performance optimized code doesn't
create unecessary references to large chunks of memory.
If all parent classes do not have `__slots__` defined, I think that Python
(3.9) just ignores `__slots__` alltogether.
Thank you for considering.

* DOC: Fixes for 18 broken links
This, with PR #16465, should fix nearly all the remaining broken links
on the site. 4 or 5 others should be easy to fix and just
need attention from someone more knowledgeable -- will
open an issue. For release notes with dead links,
I could usually find links on archive.org for roughly contemporary
versions.

Inheriting from object was necessary for Python 2 compatibility to use
new-style classes. In Python 3, this is unnecessary as there are no
old-style classes.
Dropping the object is more idiomatic Python.

As numpy is Python 3 only, these import statements are now unnecessary
and don't alter runtime behavior.

* ENH: implement matmul on NDArrayOperatorsMixin

Barely useful, but means that the function name is helpful if printed.

* ENH: NDArrayOperatorsMixin calls ufuncs directly, like ndarray
Per our discussion in
https://github.com/numpy/numpy/pull/8247#discussion_r112825050
* add back in accidentally dropped __repr__

This mixin class provides an easy way to implement arithmetic operators
that defer to __array_ufunc__ like numpy.ndarray in non-ndarray
subclasses.
